Decadent Brookies with Makana Baking Essentials

Why choose between brownies and cookies when you can have both? These gooey, chocolatey brookies combine the best of both worlds, made even better with the rich, premium ingredients from our Makana Baking Essentials range. Perfect for sharing—or not!

Cookie Dough
140g salted butter at room temperature
140g brown sugar
60g granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1tsp vanilla bean paste or extract
190g all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
¼ tsp salt
100g Makana’s Milk Chocolate Baking Chips
Combine flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt in a medium bowl; set aside. In medium mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy; add eggs and vanilla and mix until combined. Add flour mixture and beat until just combined, scraping down sides of bowl as needed. Fold in the baking chips.
Brownie Batter
140g salted butter
130g Makana's Bittersweet Chocolate Baking Chips
75g Makana's Cocoa Rouge Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
325g granulated sugar
3 large eggs
115g all-purpose flour
Pinch of salt
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup chopped nuts or Baking Chips (optional)
Preheat oven to 180C.
Melt baking chips and butter in a large microwave bowl for 1-1 ½mns, until melted; mix in the cocoa powder until fully combine and set aside. Whisk eggs and sugar until light in colour and fluffy. Pour in butter and chocolate mixture, then fold flour and salt in until just mixed in. Stir in chopped nuts or baking chips if desired.
In a parchement lined pan, alternate cookie dough and brownie batter then bake for 30-40 minutes. Check with a knife and take out once it comes out mostly clean.
Serve them warm, share them (or don’t), and watch them vanish faster than you can say ‘just one more!
